You should re-register your boat if it has been deregistered for some reason and you wish to put it into service again.
You should fill in all the mandatory information marked with an asterisk (*) on the notification form (External link). Even if the re-registration involved no change of data, it is important to fill in all the mandatory data as they may be missing in the register. The system will not allow the registration process to proceed before all the mandatory data has been provided.
If the boat has been deregistered and its ownership has changed in the meantime, a signed bill of sale or deed of transfer (External link)indicating the transfer of ownership is required.
Check that the deed of transfer separately details both the watercraft and its engine, even if they are sold as parts of a single package, for instance in the case of water scooters. The deed of transfer should also include the data of the seller and the buyer.
If the ownership has not changed while the boat was deregistered, you naturally only need an identity document to prove your ownership
You will always be asked to prove your identity when you visit a registration service point. You can use a passport, an identity card or a Finnish driving licence to do so.
The registration number of the watercraft will not change as it is re-registered. The registration certificate will be mailed to you in about two weeks.
