Watercraft's notification of transfer at a registration service point

The seller of a watercraft can submit a notification stating that they no longer own the craft. The notification of transfer terminates the seller’s obligations for the watercraft. A notification of transfer can be submitted free of charge. Once the notification has been submitted, the new owner can see the craft listed as one of their transferred watercraft and can easily register it under their name without a digital certificate or a bill of sale.

Do the following

1

Bring a signed bill of sale or deed of transfer with you

When you visit the registration service point, you should bring a signed bill of sale or deed of transfer (External link) concerning the transferred ownership. Check that the deed of transfer separately details both the watercraft and its engine, even if they are sold as parts of a single package, for instance in the case of water scooters. Also check that the deed of transfer has the buyer’s Social security number or business ID. Without these documents, your notification of transfer cannot be processed at the registration service point.

3

Prove your identity

You will always be asked to prove your identity when you visit a registration service point. You can use a passport, an identity card or a Finnish driving licence to do so.
