The new Road Traffic Act changes some speed limits, and minimum speeds may be set for some roads.
- The new Road Traffic Act removed the vehicle-specific speed limits of vans, hearses, motor homes and maintenance vehicles. These vehicles must now comply with road- or area-specific speed limits in the same manner as passenger cars.
- The maximum permitted speed for a passenger car or a van pulling a light trailer is 100 km/h. The vehicle category of light trailers is O1. The permitted speed for a vehicle can be checked by reading its registration certificate or by visiting Traficom’s My e-Services.
- Roads may be set a minimum speed. Vehicles may not travel slower than the minimum speed unless required by the traffic situation. Vehicles whose design vehicle speed is lower than the minimum speed indicated by a traffic sign may not be driven on such roads/lanes.lower than the minimum speed indicated by a traffic sign may not be driven on such roads/lanes.
