Black number plates
Black number plates feature white letters and numbers on a black background.
You can order a set of black number plates for your vehicle if
- it is a historic vehicle or
- your vehicle’s previous plates were black number plates
- the previous registration number has not been issued to any other vehicle in the same vehicle class
- the information for the previous registration number can be located in either the register or for example in a copy of the relevant register card
You can also order black number plates for
- a car that was taken into use in Finland in or before 1972
- a trailer that was taken into use in or before 1972
- a motorcycle that was taken into use in or before 1973
- an export vehicle that was taken into use abroad in or before 1971
