Common channels allocated to trade and industry

The use of radio transmitters on common channels requires a radio licence granted by Traficom. These channels are only intended for business and professional communications. The right to use the channels covers the whole Finland. The radio transmitters used on these channels are subject to certain requirements.

A radio licence must be acquired when using radio transmitters operating in these channels.
Traficom complies with the following principles when granting licences:

  • The licence is granted for all of the band's channels by frequency band (band 2, 3, 4 or 5)
  • The channels are in common use and they may only be used for speech transmission
  • The channels may be used only by mobile radio equipment
  • The radiation power of the radio transmitters on these channels must not exceed 5 W (ERP)
  • In the 150 MHz frequency band (band 2) the channel width is 12.5 kHz, and in other frequency bands it is 25 kHz

A radio licence must be acquired when using radio transmitters operating in these channels.
Traficom complies with the following principles when granting licences:

  • The licence is granted for all of the band's eight channels by frequency band (2d or 5d)
  • The channels may be used only by mobile digital radio equipment
  • The radiation power of the radio transmitters on these channels must not exceed 5 W (ERP)
  • The channel width is 12.5 kHz

A radio licence must be acquired when using radio transmitters operating in these channels. Traficom complies with the following principles when granting licences:

  • the channels are intended to be used only for communication intended for lifting control in connection with professional, trade or business operations;
  • the channels are granted for use throughout Finland;
  • the channels are in common use;
  • the channels are allowed only for mobile radio telephones;
  • the channels are allowed only for speech transmission;
  • the radiated power of the radio telephones operating in these channels must not exceed 1 W (ERP);
  • the channel width is either 25 kHz or 12.5 kHz, and determined on the basis of the centre frequency;
  • the licence is granted for all 18 channels;
  • the radio transmitters that are used must must meet the relevant requirements.

A radio licence must be acquired when using radio transmitters operating in these channels.
Traficom complies with the following principles when granting licences:

  • the channels are intended to be used only for business and professional communications
  • the right to use the channels included all the channels of the particular group (1, 2 or 3) and covers whole Finland
  • on the channels it is allowed to use only mobile transmitters which comply with all relevant requirements

Group 1

  • the channels are common channels which can be used only for data transmission including transmitting a DGNSS correction signal,
  • the maximum allowed radiated power for transmitters on these channels is 0.5 W (ERP) and the allowed channel width is either 12.5 kHz or 25 kHz.

Group 2

  • the channels are common channels which can be used only for transmitting a DGNSS correction signal and for sales demonstration of data transmission systems,
  • the maximum allowed radiated power for transmitters on these channels is 10 W (ERP) and the allowed channel width is either 12.5 kHz or 25 kHz.

Group 3

  • the channels are common channels which can be used only for data transmission including transmitting a DGNSS correction signal,
  • the maximum allowed radiated power for transmitters on these channels is 10 W (ERP) and the allowed channel width is either 12.5 kHz or 25 kHz.
