Examples of radio equipment

• Wireless headphones, radiotelephones, smartphones, WLAN devices, GPS receivers, drones, remote-controlled toys, marine VHF radiotelephones, smart bracelets, wireless thermometers, wall scanners, radars, television sets, wireless cameras and baby monitors.

The following are not covered by the Radio Equipment Directive:

• Equipment that are only used by radio amateurs and are not made available on the market
• Equipment covered by the Act on marine equipment (1503/2011) and the Marine Equipment Directive (External link)(wheel mark).
• Certain aviation equipment if that equipment falls within the scope of the Regulation on common rules in the field of civil aviation (EASA Basic Regulation).
• Custom-built evaluation kits to be used solely at research and development facilities for purposes related to their activities.
• Equipment exclusively used for activities concerning state defence, state security or the activities of the state in the area of criminal law.
