Delay to EU Drone Regulation — Progressive Entry into Force Foreseen for 31 December 2020

The EU Drone Regulation is set to enter into force gradually from 31 December 2020. The European Commission decided to delay the Regulation due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The EU Drone Regulation was originally slated to enter into force on 1 July 2020. Against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, which has seen some member states face challenges regarding implementation, the European Commission has decided to delay the applicability date of the Regulation by six months until 31 December 2020.

Drone activity in Finland will continue to be governed by the current national Aviation Regulation OPS M1-32 until the EU Drone Regulation becomes applicable.
