Emergency calls from mobile phones with no SIM card

In cooperation with the mobile network operators, the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency has determined that the following caller identifiers will be displayed at the public safety answering point when the emergency number (112) is dialled from a mobile phone with no SIM card:

·       Elisa: +358 112 <IMEI7>

·       Telia: +358 113 <IMEI7>

·       DNA: +358 114 <IMEI7>

·       Ålcom: +358 115 <IMEI7>

In these identifiers, <IMEI7> refers to the last seven digits of the IMEI number, which is used to identify mobile phones.

This practice has been implemented for the purposes of e.g. investigating possible cases of misuse or abuse of the emergency number.
