Amended regulation: Application of provisions of Commission Regulation 1178/2011 on aircrew in Finland (GEN M1-9)

The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) has, on 27 May 2021, issued an amended regulation concerning the application of provisions in the EU Aircrew Regulation 1178/2011 in Finland. The amendment extends the transitional period for the application of EU requirements on non-commercial pilot certificates issued by third countries by one year, until 20 June 2022. The amended regulation enters into force on the following day, 28 May.

The extended transitional period is made possible by EU Regulation 2020/2193, which entered into force on 12 January 2021. In Finland, the general principle is to make full use of any transitional periods allowed by EU regulations in the field of civil aviation. After the transitional period ends, EU Regulation 2020/723 will apply on the validation and conversion of third-country non-commercial licences.

The Finnish national regulation is not available in English, but Traficom will provide more detailed information as necessary.
