Car dealer websites help compare fuel consumption and emissions

The Car Comparison Service maintained by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) at autovertaamo.fi will be closed on Thursday 30 September 2021. In future, data on the fuel consumption and emissions of car models can be compared on car dealers’ own websites.

The Car Comparison Service at autovertaamo.fi was launched in the mid-2000s to help customers find information on the fuel consumption and emissions of vehicles. “At the time, the information was not available via other sources, and the service was important to those planning to purchase a new car. Today, there is plenty of fuel consumption and emissions data available on the websites of car importers and dealers, so there is no longer a similar need for a service provided by the authorities,” says Marko Sinerkari, head of services at Traficom.

Consumers can compare the fuel consumption and emissions of different car makes on manufacturers and dealers’ own websites that all give the relevant data in a comparable form. There are also commercial websites where visitors can compare the models of different car makes.
