EU funding for the promotion of digital connectivity – budget for the first calls for proposals more than EUR 200 million

In the first set of calls for proposals, funding is available for the following topics:

• 5G coverage along transport corridors EUR 106 million
• 5G for smart communities EUR 25 million
• Backbone connectivity for Digital Global Gateways EUR 40 million
• Coordination and Support Actions EUR 7 million
• Backbone networks for pan-European cloud federations EUR 80 million.

Application period: 12 January – 22 March 2022, 17:00 CET

The national deadlines for the first calls for proposals are as follows:

• 15 February 2022: Applicants must submit their project summaries to Traficom.
• 23 February 2022: Traficom sends information on the project summaries to the Ministry of Transport and Communications to support discussion and decision-making by the Government. All CEF applications submitted from Finland require national approval. The Ministry of Transport and Communications presents the projects to the Government's Ministerial Finance Committee.
• 14 March 2022: Application forms A and B must be submitted to Traficom. Letters of support (member state agreement) may only be sent to applicants once application forms A and B have been received.
• The application deadline is 22 March 2022 (17:00 CET). Applicants must complete and submit their applications on HaDEA’s dedicated web page by the deadline.
