Medical examinations by aeromedical examiners

  • Pilots, air traffic controllers and flight information service officers must have a valid Medical Certificate to exercise their rights in accordance with their licence.
  • Members of the cabin crew must have a valid Cabin Crew Medical Attestation stating their medical fitness to serve as crew members.

As a rule, these certificates are issued by aeromedical examiners. In exceptional cases, the decision is made by Traficom.

The certificates are subject to a charge. In addition to the examination fee charged by the aeromedical examiner, Traficom charges an administrative fee for each application unless the application is withdrawn and the examination discontinued.

The medical certificates currently issued in Finland are valid everywhere in the world (excluding the LAPL certificate, which is only valid in the EU and EASA Member States).
