Waterway maintenance - general
The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom sees to the functions concerning regulation, licences and supervision matters in the field of waterway maintenance. We have the authority to issue regulations related to waterways and aids to navigation.
Traficom is the authority regulating waterway maintenance in Finland. We issue guidelines for waterway maintenance on the basis of legislation and the authority to issue regulations. We see to the regulatory tasks related to waterway maintenance, such as oversight of waterway managers and questions related to prohibition or restriction of waterborne transport. We confirm changes to waterways and aids to navigation as well as information regarding them by decisions concerning waterways. We receive notices of completion related to transport infrastructure and water constructions as well as notices of installation of waterway signs and light signals.
