The aim of road safety audits is to identify elements that are critical to traffic safety already at the design stage of projects and to ensure that they are taken into account in road design and construction. The safety of new road projects is assessed by road safety auditors.
Initial training for road safety auditors lasts three days and is organised in two parts (2+1 days). The training includes a study project and final examination. Participants have to pass both of these to obtain a certificate of competence.
To maintain their competence, auditors have to take part in further training courses every 5 years. The courses last one day and do not include an examination.
Next training courses will be held in spring 2025
