Monitoring conformity of production (CoP)

Conformity of production (also CoP) refers to the conformity of the products produced by a manufacturer to the original type that was approved. When being introduced, new products must meet the requirements in force at the time in question.

Before granting the approval, the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency must ensure that the measures to be carried out for maintaining conformity of production are sufficient. The type-approval applicant must demonstrate that they have in use a functioning, documented quality management system that complies with either EN ISO 9001:2008, EN ISO 9001:2015 or ISO TS 16949:2009 and ensures that the production process for the type-approved vehicle, system, part or separate technical unit is in accordance with the type-approval.

Confirmation of conformity of production requires an initial assessment to be made before the type-approval is granted as well as continual monitoring that is carried out throughout the lifespan of the type-approval.

Additional information on the monitoring of conformity of production is available on the Extranet of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency.
