Permanent prohibitions and restrictions concerning waterborne traffic
The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency has the authority to issue prohibitions and restrictions concerning public channels and other water areas.
Prohibitions and restrictions concerning other water areas were earlier issued by ELY-keskus - Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. As the new Water Traffic Act came into force 1.6.2020, these decisions were moved to Traficom. Decisions regarding prohibitions and restrictions on channel areas were issued by Traficom also before the act came into force.
