UAS operations inside the zone are allowed only after the flight arrangements have been agreed upon separately with the aerodrome operator, or if operations are carried out according to the local instructions and procedures. In addition, a permit from the Finnish Border Guard is required before operating a UAS inside EFIM UAS geographical zone.

The restriction does not apply to UAS operations in accordance with the rules and instructions of areas that have been officially designated for flying model aircraft and published in the aeronautical information system (AIC), nor to UAS operations in accordance with the conditions of certain UAS geographical zones with exemptions (Aviation Act 11 b §).
