News on rail transport

  • Traficom service fees to increase from 1 January 2026

    Service fees charged by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom will increase as of 1 January 2026. The increases will apply, for example, to consumer service fees and supervision fees charged to organisations. Fee increases will mainly range from approximately 10 to 20 per cent. Prices will increase in the areas of aviation, maritime, road and rail transport, as well as for domain name and frequency fees.

  • Nordic transport preparedness cooperation expands

    The Nordic countries are improving the performance and crisis resilience of their transport systems through closer cross-border cooperation. Uniform practices and transport system models are helping the countries to better prepare for different types of disruptions on land, at sea and in the air. Transport preparedness is being promoted on the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding between the transport agencies of Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark.

  • The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom's organisational structure is reformed

    The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom's organisational structure is reformed starting on 1 October 2024 to consist of eight sectors and five impact networks. The aim is for the new organisational structure to be as clear as possible, both in terms of substance and management. This will ensure the effective execution of the tasks assigned to the agency and better service to customers.
