Privacy Policy

Processing of personal data

The purpose of the Privacy Policy is to protect personal data. Personal data means any information that can be used to identify a person directly or indirectly.

Traficom has a number of statutory obligations, which may involve the processing of personal data. If we process your personal data for compliance with a legal obligation, we do not need your explicit consent. Besides complying with legal obligations, Traficom also collects personal data with your consent for providing certain services. In such cases, we request your consent to process your data and you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.

We process your personal data in accordance with legislation and good data processing practice. Traficom's Privacy Policy contains the principles and aims regarding the processing of personal data and the implementation of data protection in line with the EU GDPR and the Finnish Data Protection Act. Rights of data subjects

Right to access own personal data

You have the right to know whether Traficom processes your personal data and to access this data.

To check your basic information entered in Traficom’s Transport Register, visit Traficom's e-Services at asiointi.trafi.fi (External link). Log in to My e-Services to view information on:

  • your own vehicles and related taxes
  • your own watercraft and vessels
  • your driving licences
  • your professional qualifications in road and maritime transport.

If you want view your data entered in the Transport Register in more detail, please fill in the data request form (External link) and send it to Traficom either by post to the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom, PO Box 320, 00059 TRAFICOM or by encrypted e-mail to kirjaamo(at)traficom.fi.

Instructions for sending an encrypted email

To view your data entered in communications registers, fill in the electronic data request form (External link).

You can send a request to view your data in Traficom’s other data resources to Traficom’s registry. The request must specify the data and period of time you want to view, your name, postal address and any other contact information (telephone number and email address).

Right to rectification

You have the right to request Traficom to rectify any inaccurate personal data and to complete any incomplete data.

Right to erasure (right to be forgotten)

If Traficom processes your personal data on other grounds than for compliance with a legal obligation, you have the right to request Traficom to erase your personal data. In such case, we will delete your data from our systems unless there are some other legal grounds for processing the data or a statutory obligation to retain the data. In any case, we will delete your personal data after the determined period for storing personal data has expired.

Right to object

You have the right to object to processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes, and in certain situations specified in the Act on Transport Services, for some other predetermined purposes, too.

Right to lodge a complaint

If you consider that the processing of your personal data infringes legislation in force, you can lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Ombudsman,
