Adding a vehicle registered in Finland to a transport licence
Holders of goods and passenger transport licences must ensure that up-to-date information on the vehicles used in transport subject to a licence is in the Transport Register. In order to fulfil this obligation, the license holder shall attach the registration numbers of in-service motor vehicles to the valid transport licence.

Add a vehicle registered in Finland to a transport licence
A vehicle registered in Finland can be added to a transport licence electronically in My e-services for transport matters in the section Road transport licences. You can find the service by first selecting the licence you wish to add vehicles to.
In matters related to transport operations, a natural person selects ‘Personal services’, while a legal person should choose ‘Acting on behalf of a company/an organisation’. This means that a natural person as an applicant or a licence holder always acts as an individual, not as a representative of their company operating under a business name. Only a person with the right to represent the transport company either with an authorisation or without a separate authorisation based on their role recorded in the Finnish Trade Register may act on behalf of a company in the service.
In the service you can add a vehicle to a transport licence or remove a vehicle from a transport licence.
Those providing taxi transport subject to notification under a goods or passenger transport licence: A vehicle used for taxi transport must be registered as being under the exclusive control of the licence holder and added to the transport licence from 1 September 2026 onwards.
Those operating under a taxi transport licence: A vehicle used for taxi transport must be registered as being under the exclusive control of the licence holder and added to the transport licence from 1 January 2027 onwards.
The following vehicles can be linked to a transport licence:
- A lorry can be added to a goods transport licence when the purpose of use is goods transport subject to a licence.
- A van can be added to light goods transport licence when the purpose of use is goods transport subject to a licence.
- A bus can be added to a passenger transport licence when the purpose of use is subject to a licence.
- A company or person providing taxi transport must add the vehicle used for taxi transport to a transport licence that entitles the holder to provide taxi transport. The vehicle’s purpose of use must be registered as licensed use.
The added vehicle must be registered in Finland. The holder of the transport licence must be the owner or holder of the vehicle marked in the register.
Please note that a vehicle cannot be added to more than one transport licence at a time.
The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency may remove a vehicle added to a transport licence from that licence if the conditions for adding the vehicle to the transport licence are no longer met.
In the service, you can also notify that all vehicles used by your company in transport subject to a licence are equipped with a second-generation smart tachograph (GEN2). Please note that this notification should only be submitted if your company’s whole vehicle fleet is equipped with GEN2 tachographs.
The service is free of charge.
