  • The biodiversity footprint of Finland’s transport system will be assessed

    The transport system has significant impacts on both climate and biodiversity. The University of Jyväskylä will assess the carbon and biodiversity footprint of Finland’s entire transport system during 2025. A report on the requirements for the footprint calculation has now been completed in collaboration with the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom.

  • Nordic transport preparedness cooperation expands

    The Nordic countries are improving the performance and crisis resilience of their transport systems through closer cross-border cooperation. Uniform practices and transport system models are helping the countries to better prepare for different types of disruptions on land, at sea and in the air. Transport preparedness is being promoted on the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding between the transport agencies of Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark.

  • New national transport forecasts extend up to 2060

    The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom has drawn up new national transport forecasts for road, rail and maritime transport. Transport forecasts are needed for national transport system planning and assessing the impacts of transport system development measures. The time scale of the prepared transport forecasts extends up to 2060.
