Jukka Hannola has been appointed Director-General of Civil Aviation at the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom. Hannola holds a Master of Administrative Sciences degree and is a qualified air traffic controller.
Nordic and Baltic countries meet in Helsinki to discuss current security challenges

Directors-General of national authorities from the Nordic and Baltic countries met in Helsinki on 5 February 2026 to discuss current security challenges in the region. The meeting focused on risks posed by the activities of Russia’s shadow fleet, GNSS interference targeting satellite positioning systems and the protection of critical infrastructure such as subsea cables.
EASA has published the SORA 2.5 risk assessment methodology

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) published on 29 September 2025 an update to the risk assessment methodology for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). SORA 2.5 (Specific Operations Risk Assessment) has now been officially incorporated into EU UAS regulation through EASA Decision 2025/018/R. The decision entered into force immediately.
