Porting instructions

Check the type of your agreement with your current operator. The agreement may be valid until further notice or for a limited time period and it may concern subscriptions paid in arrears (post paid) or in advance (prepaid). You can port a number of a prepaid service only if you are registered and identified as the subscriber of the service. The number of an anonymous prepaid service can not be ported.

You can see the type of your agreement and the amount of the monthly fees in your agreement and in the operator's price list. Most operators have also indicated the expiry date of a fixed-term agreement on the telephone bill. Contact your operator's customer service, if necessary.

Choose type of subscription

  1. You can port your number to another operator at any time during the agreement period as of 25 May 2011. Note that you have to pay all the fees related to your old agreement until the end of the agreement period.
  2. Check the expiry date of your fixed-term agreement and count the fees you still have to pay for the remaining period.
  3. Compare your existing agreement and the new offer to find out a reasonable date for porting.
  4. Make a new agreement with the desired operator and say that you wish to keep your number. Say also that you have a fixed-term agreement with your old operator. The new operator will take care of all changes incurred for porting, for example termination of the agreement with the old operator. Your old agreement expires as the current agreement period ends.
  5. If you have a tie-in subscription (you have bought the mobile phone and your subscription together), it is possible to terminate even the fixed-term agreement at two weeks' notice. If you terminate the agreement early, contact your old operator after making the porting request. In this case you may have to pay not only the fixed monthly fees but also an extra fee defined specifically for such situations.
  6. You should also take into account that your tie-in phone may be SIM locked, and unlocked only at the end of the agreement period, unless the agreement is terminated earlier.
  7. You can contribute to the porting date. The operator must port the number within five working days, unless otherwise agreed. You can also request for a later porting, for instance, if the remaining period is long.
  8. After you have placed your order the new operator will give you a new SIM card and a confirmation of the porting date.
  9. The old operator will send you a text message with information about your liability to pay the fees for the remaining period.
  10. If you have made the agreement through distance selling (over the phone or in the internet), you have the right to cancel the new agreement and number porting within14 days. In distance selling, the time required for portability may be extended because the number can not be ported until the cancellation deadline has passed. The operator may offer you a chance to give up your cancellation right and thus accelerate number porting.
  11. Change your old SIM card to a new one at the reported porting time or when the old SIM card stops working. The time between the closing of the old subscription and opening of the new one can at the most be ten minutes.
